Until then we will be open 10am -5pm Tuesday to Saturday.

Introducing some new makers to the Tayberry...

Firstly welcome London designer Anne-Marie Faulkner and her delightfully gorgeous hats and head pieces.

After completing a degree in constructed textile design at Duncan of Jordanstone School of Art in Dundee, Ann-Marie moved to London and began studying millinery with Rose Cory (the Queen Mother’s former milliner).

Working with a range of materials from knitted yarns to laser cut wood and fine silks to metal sheeting, Ann-Marie sensitively combines contemporary and innovative textile designs with traditional British millinery techniques to produce unique pieces for both everyday wear and special occasions.

Next, and nicely timed for the cold winter ahead, are Mitchell and Black Textiles and their lovely knitted scarves and accessories.

Mitchell & Black Textiles are contemporary textile designers who specialise in the design and creation of beautifully hand crafted knitted accessories for women and children. Taking inspiration from structures and patterns they are combined with a vibrant colour pallete to create an original collection of scarves and mitts. All woollen designs are made from 100% Geelong Lambswool spun in Scotland.

Now we welcome Dundee jeweller Christina Hirst who uses silver precious metal clay and casting to produce her stunning designs.

The main inspiration for Christina's work is nature. She aims to capture the delicate textures and shapes of nature in metal. After studying natural forms, by drawing and photographing them she take shapes and textures and translates them into designs for jewellery. Some pieces are life like representations of nature, others have a more fantastical quality.

..and last for now is Genna Delaney, jewellery desigener and maker from Dundee. Genna has been with the gallery for a couple of months now but is due a proper introduction!

Genna is an award winning jewellery designer who recently won the Dundee Craft Makers Award and came 3rd in the Jolomo Art and Design Awards this year. She is passionate about designing and making jewellery and thrives to produce bespoke, superbly produced handcrafted pieces. Genna states,

"Architecture is a major influence in my work which inspires both geometric forms and organic sculptures. Movement is also a prominent force where rare coloured stones can be moved along the labyrinths of my work. My pieces are tactile, playful and sculptural. Natural rock formations influence the texturing and layering of many of my designs".

The Tayberry Gallery is now under new ownership and many new designers and artists have been selected to display their delights. I will introduce some of them below starting with.......me!

Jeweller Sarah Spalding from Dundee designs and makes contemporary silver pieces reflecting her love of cubic forms and patterns. Feast your eyes on her striking geometric designs below. A selection of Sarah's pieces can be found at The Tayberry Gallery as well as Brazen Studios in Glasgow. Commissions welcome.

Artist Carrie Paxton works from Edinburgh producing mainly glass pieces that are bright, playful and affordable. All items are fired onto clear float glass with frit and enamel, and sometimes fired up to three times. As each piece is hand painted they are all unique. Carrie also produces a range of bags, aprons and greetings cards.

Jeweller and artist Claire Pouget Wright works in a variety of media such as: metal, collage / mixed media pieces and photography. Claire is inspired by her own personal experiences travelling abroad, her interaction with different cities and cultures, and poetry and literature. Claires jewellery collection is an extension of this work and uses texture and colour, through photo-etching and decal technique, to reflect these original influences.

Mirna Sarajlic has recently graduated, completing her BA (HONS) in Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee. Mirna concentrates on optical art and colour, which is a essential element in her art.
Coming from Bosnia just as the war started, the only memories left with her were connected to colour. This is an essential factor in her work as well as colour memories from holidays in Croatia; which act as happier times.

Sue Dunne’s ceramic work directly reflects her year-round fascination with plant-life, especially when it’s wild. Integral to this involvement is her dog and their daily outings together in the countryside that surrounds both her home and her studio in Northumberland.   Over the months, seasons and years Sue is building up a ceramic library of records in the form of moulds of pressed flowers, twigs, seeds, leaves and berries. New designs that seem endless present themselves from this resource base.
